BlueGene back on top

Previously, we reported that IBM's BlueGene computer system had stolen the thunder from the Japanese Earth Simulator as the top of the top 500. Then, of course, Earth Simulator made a comeback, when higher results. Now, IBM has taken the crown back.

IBM's BlueGene/L, developed in cooperation with DoE's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), has achieved a record-breaking performance of 70.72 teraflops based on the industry standard Linpack benchmark.
