Bluesocket advances WLAN

By Derek Sooman

Bluesocket will introduce a gateway and associated management software that lets users control WLANs in multiple locations. The software can handle as many as 50 users concurrently and supports up to eight access points.

"Bluesocket also is introducing new management software for multisite WLAN deployments. BlueView Management System provides centralized configuration, provisioning, policy enforcement and monitoring capabilities, using the XML RPC (remote procedure call) specification."

The technology brings many advances to WLANs, and answers the demands of many large enterprises for support for branch office WLAN linkup. With clever work like this underway, it might not be long before wireless becomes the standard over wired in enterprises and in other locations.
