Halo 2 has overtaken sales of Halo 1, with 6.4 million sales worldwide. Those were the delighted fresh sales figures for the Xbox exclusive first person shooter, which was the second biggest selling game of the year in the USA in 2004, just behind Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Halo 2 is also helping to push Xbox users online in addition, with 1.4 million users signing up for Xbox Live thanks to the game.

The enormous success of the game, developed by Microsoft-owned studio Bungie, comes mostly from North America, where 4.4 million units have been sold in the USA alone, and pushes the franchise past the 10 million mark.

  1. 4.4million games sold, and theres 4million people in the US, and every girl in the US doesnt own a copy of this game.. I sware people must stock up on 10 copies incase they lose 1 - its crazy.
  2. You are way off with those numbers, according to the U.S. Bureau of the Census, the resident population of the United States, projected to 01/25/05 at 16:14 GMT (EST+5) is 295,326,649If the US population was 4M that would mean 1/3rd of their citizens... !¿are signing up for XboX Live?! I don't think so[Edited by jos on 2005-01-25 10:31:48]
  3. There's 6 million people living in Scotland alone! And there's even more than that living in the city of London.
