VIA launches K8N800A chipset for AMD Turion 64 notebooks

VIA Technologies has announced the VIA K8N800A, a low-power core-logic chipset with an integrated graphics processor (IGP) incorporated with the northbridge. This chipset is set to hold AMD's yet to appear Turion 64 mobile technology, but will also accomodate the mobile AMD Athlon 64 and mobile AMD Sempron processors as well. The chipset is available now.

Some key features:

-S3 Graphics UniChrome Pro Integrated Graphics Processor (IGP).
-128-bit 2D/3D engine and shared DDR memory support for 3D gaming and applications.
-Chromotion CE Video Display Engine blends hardware-based MPEG-2 decoding acceleration for digital video playback with advanced display technologies for enhanced video rendering.
-External AGP8x port allows optional graphics processor upgrades on supporting notebooks.
