Opera version 8

Opera version 8 (download link) promises a fresher, cleaner interface and less clutter, and aims to be friendlier for new users. Also promised is better security (particularly against internet fraud), as well as new voice technologies. Additionally, there is support for Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), Opera's small-screen rendering technology, and voice browsing. Voice browsing works by a computer-generated voice reading out text that the user has highlighted. All in all, there are many enhancements.

As with previous versions, Opera's free version has advertising built in, while a paid version without advertising is also available. Most other browsers are available for free without advertising. Payment represents a psychological barrier to some people.
