Sharp developing 100 gigabyte optical disc

The Japanese manufacturer recently revealed it is working on new optical technology that will let them store up to 100 gigabytes of data on a single disc.

Sharp's new disc can hold several times more data than a next-generation DVD, making it possible to record about nine hours of high-definition video footage.
Sharp said, they are basing this new technology on the next-generation, Blu-ray format, that is expected to store around 25 GB per disc. No expected release dates have been announced, but it's probably going to take longer than both Blu-ray and HD-DVD until it hits the masses.
