Novell has launched a new introductory Linux training course
. The course is intended for academic environments, with the aim of giving educational institutions a pathway to open source training, and to promote Linux among students. A special effort is being made in Malaysia. The courses include the fundamentals, administration and advanced administration of SuSE Linux. Novell also said that it would be donating US$1.5 million in SuSE Linux software and training materials to educational institutions worldwide.
"Novell is committed to promoting Linux at universities, polytechnics and colleges in Malaysia and we aim to engage 80 per cent of higher learning institutions and enterprises by 2007", said Daniel Veitkus, vice president, Novell Training Services.
KK Leong, Novell country manager for Malaysia, said that the launch of Novell's Academia Training Partner (NATP), which maps directly to the Novell Certified Linux Professional certification, would help bring about the mass adoption of open source in Malaysia.
