Forrester Research believes Blu-ray format will win

Just who will win the next generation DVD format war? Well, according to Forrester Research, it will be a long and bloody battle, but the Sony-led Blu-ray format will eventually be victorious.

Independent technology and market research company Forrester Research has predicted victory for Blu-ray in the next-generation DVD format wars. Unfortunately for consumers, however, the firm believes that the battle will not end that quickly.
Forrester believes that unless the HD DVD group abandons the field, it may be a further two years before consumers are confident enough to make a choice. With the Toshiba-led HD DVD camp showing no signs of backing down, we could be looking at a long and nasty fight for some time to come. But then, we were all expecting that anyway.
