Blu-ray expects to reveal launch details in New Year

As the next generation DVD format wars rage on, the Blu-ray DVD camp has said yesterday that they would unveil specific launch plans at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January, with the launch of their high-definition disc format in full in spring 2006. The Blu-ray disc technology still appears to be the front-runner in the battle for high-definition dominance, as Blu-ray has more major movie studios on its side, although some industry analysts have said the format will be more expensive to manufacture. The Blu-ray Disc Association consortium have said that they expect that costs will come down quickly, and will be almost immediately competitive with those of HD DVD.
