Telewest is to roll out a HDTV service across the UK. The company claims that the service will be available with its TVDrive personal video recorder (PVR) system. This will allow users to record up to two standard or high definition programmes at once. Free programming from BBC Worldwide will be available, with more content quickly following.

'HDTV takes the viewing experience a significant step beyond standard digital television and has to be seen to be believed. It's set to become this year's must-have home entertainment experience,' said Philip Snalune, managing director of consumer products at ntl Telewest

'We'll add more choice of high definition viewing this year and combining TVDrive with our existing on-demand service we're giving customers TV on their terms.'
