Pioneer is bringin one in for the mobile crowd with the introduction of a portable DVD-RAM burner as an OEM variety, which rebranders like Japanese-based Logitec will be using to sell. Offering a 5x DVD-RAM recording speed and a more or less run of the mill set of recording speeds for all other popular DVD and CD media, the drive appears thin in nature, much less bulky than many “portable” optical drives, and the article mentions may retail for around $190. DVD-RAM is one of those things that unfortunately people are learning about a little bit late with the introduction of BluRay and HD-DVD, but for a long time may be a great “lower” cost alternative.
