I realized last night that the amount of quality games I have at my disposal to entertain me when I get a free minute has greatly increased the past 2 years. With titles like F.E.A.R., Half Life 2, Battlefield 2, Oblivion and others, there's more than enough game for me to get a handle on. Others have noticed too, and a very interesting article was written by Scott Steinberg at Designtechnica that has an interesting theory on the development of the game industry.

While some may argue about the focus being shifted from quantity to quality, he makes a good point about the rising standards for a game these days, whether it be in game interaction, visual quality, cinematics, character acting, et cetera. Even big-name stars are getting in on it and doing more voice-overs than ever before. If you game at all it is definitely worth a read.
