Symantec plans to fight off Microsoft's security challenge

Symantec has vowed to better Microsoft's security software offerings by making themselves better at thinking up new ideas. The company has promised to put more resources into research and development over the coming the year, so that they can adequately challenge any security breakthroughs that may or may not be introduced by the final version of Vista, the next edition of Windows.

"Competition with Microsoft is inevitable, given the way the tom-toms are beating at the moment," said the company's CEO.
As you may be aware, Microsoft is in the process of working on a security service aimed at consumers called Windows Live OneCare, which will combine antivirus, anti-spyware and firewall software with backup features and several tune-up tools. Symantec is determined to better such offerings with its own innovation.

 1.
Symantec has vowed to better Microsoft's security software offerings
As it is now, better put nothing than Norton Anti-Virus.
 2. This sounds eerily close to Symantec creating exploit code to promote their product.
