XenSource, a company that has become a thorn in the side of virtualization software providers with their increasingly popular package, has recently added a “big player” to their ranks. They've hired a former Microsoft executive, Gordon Mangione, for the position of senior vice president. His former experience with Microsoft was in their “Security Business Technology Unit”, and led the SQL Server and Exchange Teams. Experience, no doubt, that will be of great value for Xen in creating a server-on-server platform. Xen shows a lot of promise, and has proven itself to be a viable virtualization solutions over things like MS Virtual Server. With both MS and Vmware releasing their server platforms for free, Xensource does have their work cut out for them. It'll be interesting to see if having Mr. Mangione on board can help move their company in the right direction.
