Patch Tuesday is around the corner, and Microsoft has ten updates ready for rollout. Comprising of six updates for Windows and four for Microsoft office, the updates are all security-related. Among them, the Windows Shell vulnerability is patched, one that was serious enough to cause other companies to produce third-party patches. While MS isn't releasing more specific information on the current fix, it'll be available next week along with the others.

A security bulletin will also be released, concerning the use of .NET.

  1. I have to do fresh installs of Windows XP on customer's systems pretty much every day. Even my Ghost images on new systems often need many updates. We're getting very close to the point where doing updates takes as long as installing Windows. What is taking so long for service pack 3?
  2. Have you tried Autopatcher XP?[url]http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=4966
