Belkin, one of the biggest OEMs in the world, recently earned the ire of Microsoft and found themselves the target of a lawsuit. Originally, they were not agreeing to licensing Microsoft's "U2" technology, which despite its name is nothing more than a way for keyboards/mice to determine whether a USB or PS/2 connection should be used. After the pressure of the lawsuit, they have changed their minds and entered into discussions with Microsoft:
"We are pleased to announce that we have settled our dispute with Belkin and that they will be taking a license to use the U2 patents," Deputy General Counsel Tom Burt said in a statement provided to CNET News.com. Microsoft did not provide terms of the settlement.
The details of the lawsuit don't specify which products Microsoft felt violated by, and Belkin has not made a public statement regarding the issue aside from confirming they have reached a settlement with Redmond.
