Hitachi announces 1TB desktop hard drives
Just one day after Seagate was up in the clouds with news of their 1TB Barracuda scheduled for release this year, Hitachi comes to steal their thunder. Hitachi is announcing a PATA and SATA 1 Terabyte disk, with two models oriented around either desktop work or DVR applications. The “Deskstar 7K1000” and “CinemaStar” will be made available this year, the desktop model coming in the first quarter of this year, which means that Hitachi may beat Seagate out the door. You can read the full press release at Hitachi's site.
The desktop model will retail for around $399, which is a very good price considering the capacity.
