The HP execs on trial for the spy scandal are being offered a deal. The State of California is offering a chance for them to skip a lengthy trial and plead guilty to a lesser charge, carrying with it much more lenient punishments. Despite that, it seems some of them are not accepting it, instead willing to go to trial:

Stephen Naratil, attorney for Wagner, said that the California attorney general's office proposed to reduce the felony charges to one misdemeanor count at the end of December of last year – the misdemeanor charge would carry a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a fine up to $5,000. The other four have not accepted the offer put on the table by the state.
The deal in particular is pretty standard, and it doesn't impact other investigations going on. In theory, even more lawsuits could be brought against the people in question. Tsk tsk.
