Are dual GPU cores cool? Are quad GPU cores impressive? How about 128 cores? Nvidia's latest beast in the Quadro line, designed for high-end film editing and heavy graphics workstations will have the "equivalent" of 128 1.35GHz processors inside. It requires a massive 750 million transistors. There will be several different models of this Quadro, including the Quadro FX 4600, Quadro FX 5600 and the Quado Plex VCS Model IV. Quite a name on that one.

The new cards rely on a completely new GPU design that is built for parallel processing from the ground up, disposing of the traditional pipeline model we see in current CPUs and GPUs. Many big players, such as Apple, are supposedly interested in developing for this new type of GPU platform. The new cards carry a very hefty price tag, from $2000 to $3000, but the Quadro series has always had a premium.
