Apple posts huge profit for Q2
AMD may be suffering financially, but another former underdog certainly isn't. Apple has recently posted their Q2 results and have come out well ahead of expectations, with revenue up 21% and profit up 88%. Those are more than just small increases, and are above what analysts were predicting. The good news for Apple this year probably isn't at an end, with two big projects expected soon in the form of the iPhone and the update to Mac OS X.
Looking back, it is impressive to see how much of a hold Apple has managed to get, compared to where they were in 2000. ITMS and the iPod are huge parts of that, and OS X is definitely a big boost as well. Love them or hate them, they have made a huge impact on digital entertainment.
