AMD again delays Barcelona?
Unfortunately for IT admins and integrators around the world, it seems AMD has once again put a slight delay into the introduction of their Barcelona-core server processors. AMD's new K10 line has been eagerly anticipated, and delays thus far have caused AMD trouble as share value has gone down. A delay is obviously something they do not want, but clearly if they are going to do it than there is a reason.
Whatever the reason might be, however, they are not saying. No press release has been issued regarding an official release date, but according to the article Barcelona may not arrive until September or October. This is equally bad news for enthusiasts and AMD fans, as Phenom is schedule to be deployed after the server-class Barcelona core processors are. A delay in the server end might prompt a delay in the desktop end.
Hopefully AMD will give more clarification in the days to come.
