Retail ads hint at Xbox 360 price drop
Rumors of an Xbox 360 price drop have been circulating all over the web after flyers for both Wal-Mart and Toys 'R Us, were leaked yesterday detailing a $50 price break for Microsoft’s console. Today, a Circuit City flyer is adding fuel to the Xbox 360 price drop speculation.
After spilling the beans on the $100 PS3 price drop a few weeks back, a leaked Circuit City flyer seems to confirm not only a $50 cut on the Xbox 360 Premium, but also a $30 cut on the Xbox 360 Elite, and a $20 cut on the Xbox 360 Core. Furthermore, the Premium pack is listed as including a free copy of Rockstar's Table Tennis. Microsoft remains quite on the subject despite widely consistent reports from retailers.
"We have no announcements to make on pricing at this time," a Microsoft spokesman told GamePro on Tuesday morning. "While price matters, content is king. No other system is offering all the games people want to play this holiday at a better price than Xbox 360," he added.
If reports are to be believed, the new Xbox 360 pricing scheme should be effective starting August 12th.
