For those Xbox 360 owners affected by the hardware issues which plague Microsoft’s console, the Redmond giant has launched a more organized method to keep customers up-to-date with the whereabouts and status of faulty consoles sent in for repair.

The new service lets console owners register their Xbox or Xbox 360, setup a repair, and track the status of the repair, all online. The new site allows users create In-Warranty or Out-of-warranty repairs, with a $5 discount for Out-of-Warranty repairs. The service is currently only available to U.S. customers and users must have a Windows Live ID in order to sign in.

With the number of faulty Xbox 360s quite high, the new site, service.xbox.com, should make dealing with customer service a little more bearable and give customers a better "service-side" experience.
