September's infamous Patch Tuesday is on its way, bringing with it an expected five patches from Redmond. Microsoft has rated four of the five patches as "Critical" and the fifth as "Important". The most serious flaws addressed are in MSN Messenger, including versions from 6 and 7 series as well as Windows Live Messenger. All of these are vulnerable to a remote code execution bug, as is Visual Studio.

There isn't a specific number of fixed vulnerabilities, but as usual it will be an important update for any Windows users. There will be at least some patches for Vista this month. I hope for all the Vista users that they remain vigilant, especially since the official Vista SP1 will not be available until next year.
