Nvidia to offer IGP on AMD boards?

By Justin Mann

On October 3, 2007, 1:11 PM

While still an unconfirmed rumor, it appears that Nvidia has plans to bring their IGP chipsets to AMD platforms. That wouldn't be surprising since Nvidia now intends to compete with Intel for their IGP market share.

While AMD now does have several IGP offerings after the ATI acquisition, this doesn't necessarily mean it is bad for AMD as those who prefer to have a GeForce IGP over a Radeon would get the choice between Intel or AMD, which still plays into AMD's favor. According to the article, there will be two IGP chipsets from Nvidia destined for AMD platforms, including the MCP72P and the higher end MCP72XE.
