In a massive legal move, SanDisk has filed lawsuits against some 25 companies for allegedly infringing seven of its patents used in removable flash storage products including MP3 players and USB flash drives.

SanDisk says it is looking to these matters by signing licensing agreements with the allegedly infringing companies, so they can pay to legally use the patents. Otherwise, it will seek an injunction on manufacturing infringing products and a judicial resolution awarding unspecified monetary damages.

The companies targeted by SanDisk include some big names such as LG Electronics, Verbatim, Buffalo, Corsair Memory, PNY, and Kingston. Since the majority of the defendants are based overseas, the memory maker also turned to the US International Trade Commission (ITC) to ban firms from importing allegedly infringing products.
