Asus prices up Eee PC for US market?
Information supplied by Asus to its resellers appears to have found its way to NotebookReview.com, which is reporting that the much-anticipated Asus Eee PC will finally go on sale in the US this Thursday November 1. However, the models expected to launch stateside will vary significantly from those released in Taiwan earlier this month.
For starters, the $399 8G model was not listed on the presentation. Instead, US buyers will apparently get to choose from three higher-priced configurations: the 2G Surf, 4G Surf and 4G, at $299.99, $349.99 and $399.99, respectively. At launch, only the 4G model will be available to encourage early adopters to buy the top-end system.
While Asus’ low-budget notebook has received very positive reviews so far, the leaked US pricing scheme will come as a disappointment to many who may see little reason to purchase the Eee over a higher-speced budget notebook from the likes of Dell, HP, and others.
