OpenOffice in a browser window
If you've ever been interested in any of the various online office suites, you'll definitely want to hear about this. Joining Microsoft, Google, IBM and potentially even others, Ulteo joins the growing crowd of groups making online office suites available to the public. Online OpenOffice.org, as it is called, is designed to provide you with a full office suite inside a browser.
The suite is functional in various browsers, relying on (of course) JavaScript and a JRE, and is of course destined to be a software as a service solution where subscriptions are what sells. There are some noticeable drawbacks this suite does not yet offer compared to existing solutions, like shared documents. But it's definitely worth watching. You can try the beta of the software yourself at the Ulteo site
