The holiday was hot for online retail giant Amazon.com. The company today announced the 2007 holiday season finished as its best ever
, with its busiest day being December 10. On that day, customers ordered more than 5.4 million items, or 62.5 items per second.
One of the top sellers was – unsurprisingly – Nintendo’s Wii system, which were sold at a rate of approximately 17 per second when they were in stock. Among personal computers, HP was clearly the leader, with five products in Amazon’s top ten “Bestsellers in Computers & PC Hardware” list
(as of this writing), but Apple’s $1,300 white 120 GB MacBook captured the top spot. The least expensive computer on the list, at No. 15, is the $399 Linux-based Asus Galaxy with a 7-inch screen and 4 GB of flash memory rather than a hard drive.
