Many companies and analysts initially shunned Asus when they announced plans for the Eee PC. Now, the world can't get enough. Many other companies are quickly hopping on the bandwagon, and now Gigabyte is the latest vendor to join their ranks
Gigabyte is planning to release a low-cost mobile PC with a small 7 to 9 inch panel, based upon Intel's newest “basic” mobile platform. The goal for Gigabyte is to bring their notebook division into profitability, and will be designing and manufacturing the unit themselves. That might not be too hard for them considering that according to all standards PC sales are rising
. It seems, however, that the ultra-mobile market is quickly becoming overcrowded. Is there room for yet another contender?
