Google gives big boost to the Google Mini

The Google Mini, a device first piloted over three years ago, is intended to give businesses an affordable way to get powerful Google search technology in their own doors. Years after it began heading out to businesses around the world, Google has announced that they have taken user input into consideration and is giving the device some major upgrades that make it even more attractive.

The Google Mini is getting the ability to search for documents on file servers across multiple servers, “source biasing” to let people determine what searches are more valuable, “date biasing” to make newer items relevant and some more. Their intent here is likely to keep the attention on their search technologies, and it comes at a perfect time too – letting them take advantage of the storm that has brewed over Microsoft and Yahoo. This doesn't impact us individual users all that much, though it is interesting to see how Google is catering to both businesses and individual users simultaneously.
