Late last year Adobe surprised many when it embraced the advent of online office suites by acquiring online word processor Buzzword. Now, the company is turning up the heat a notch by launching its most ambitious web-based offering to date: Acrobat.com. In addition to word processing, this suite of productivity tools include a web conferencing / whiteboard app (ConnectNow), online file sharing (Share), file storage (My Files), and a PDF converter.

Acrobat.com doesn’t do everything that Microsoft or Google do with office productivity applications as it lacks things like spreadsheets and presentations, but it is a notable start nonetheless. Based on its own Flash / Flex technology, Acrobat.com delivers a fast and elegant experience that is well worth to check out. In addition, to complement this launch, Adobe has also announced version 9 of its Adobe Acrobat product which now incorporates Flash into the PDF experience.
