Security vendor criticizes Apple's MobileMe, warns of risk
More issues are plaguing MobileMe. Following Steve Jobs' assertion that it came at the wrong time and a subsequent decision to dish out a free extension of the service due to spotty issues, another problem has surfaced that may scare potential users. Apparently, there is a concern over the security of MobileMe, with a fairly easy way of retrieving user name lists having been discovered on top of a few other security vulnerabilities.
The concern is that MobileMe doesn't use encryption to transport data and ultimately leaves user information a little too public, making it easy to harvest email addresses. There's no implication that the service or site is hazardous to the machines being used, it is just an information leak – but today that is a very serious topic.
