Sling Media ships Slingbox Pro-HD
Sling Media made a name for itself back in 2005 with the original Slingbox, a remarkably simple to use device that can send your home TV signal over the Internet for you to watch from anywhere in the world – all without monthly fees. And now, keeping up with ever-changing technology, the company has begun shipping first true HD streaming device: the Slingbox Pro-HD.
The device is capable of picking up either 720p or 1080i TV from cable, satellite and over-the-air broadcasts and stream it over a home network or online – provided your home broadband connection supports upload speeds of at least 1.5 Mbps. You'll need the Windows-only SlingPlayer 2.0 software to take advantage of the higher quality streaming, so Mac users are left with no remote HD for now.
