Nvidia launches "Big Bang II" beta drivers
Following in AMD’s footsteps, Nvidia has released a new set of beta drivers that are optimized for the best experience on Far Cry 2. According to the company, the GeForce 180.42 beta drivers should provide a performance boost of up to 40 percent in the game, but there are a handful of other useful new features in this release.
In addition to improved performance, this so-called “Big Bang II” driver release (the first one marked the arrival of SLI technology back in 2004) introduces long-overdue support for multi-display SLI, which allows users to configure two, four or six displays depending on their system hardware, and the option for users to dedicate a specific GPU to PhysX calculations.
Interestingly, Nvidia says this release adds support for several SLI multi-GPU configurations on systems with X58 motherboards and Intel Core i7 CPUs, which are set to debut sometime next month. You can grab the GeForce 180.42 beta drivers at our download section for Windows Vista, Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows XP, and Windows XP 64-bit.
