Dell to bundle music and movies with computers

Dell is once again stepping into the music scene with an announcement today that it will offer buyers of certain Dell systems pre-loaded music bundles from Universal Music Group to help them start their music collections. Each bundle contains either 50 or 100 songs and will start from $25.

All tracks are DRM free, so customers will be able to move them between applications, onto portable players, or burn them to a CD. The company is touting the new service as a further step of PC personalization, and says the content will be instantly accessible when buyers power up their Dell computers for the first time.

Likewise, Dell will also start offering movies pre-loaded on select laptops and desktops, though the selection is rather limited for now and all of the movies come packaged in Windows Media DRM.
