The world of smartphones and the market for Google Android are about to grow, following a recent announcement by HTC. The manufacturer made it clear that they plan to go full steam ahead with more Android-based phones, at least three of them planned for this year. HTC hopes that their successes in the U.S. and Europe markets will translate into success worldwide, particularly mentioning their intentions to enter the Chinese market.

This may give the still young Android platform a chance to show what it can do on a global scale. Hopefully cell carriers around the world will at least give it a chance on their networks. The platform had a good start with the G1 and has been promised a major update next month, which will be available for the G1 along with the upcoming “HTC Magic”, one of the newer Android-based phones.
