As the much anticipated smartphone creeps nearer to its release, Palm and Sprint are prepared with their poker faces, letting unbridled hearsay run freely. This week, images of a possible retail box complete with inserts have been unearthed. Along with the Pre, the box states that the contents include a micro-USB cable, stereo headset, travel charger, rechargeable Li-ion battery, phone pouch and of course, printed materials. The introduction booklet accompanied with the box is quite clearly photographed, and is in Spanish.


Additional rumors suggest that we will soon have a more distinctive answer regarding the Pre’s release date. A “proven tipster” over at The Boy Genius Report has informed them that Palm and Sprint are scheduled to make a “big announcement” in the Wall Street Journal on May 19th. The big announcement, of course, is speculated to involve the Pre’s official launch date. Some seem to think that the 19th will bring more than an announcement – possibly the phone itself. Others, claim they’ve heard it’s going to be available on the 17th.

If I had to guess, I would presume that the WSJ report will declare a date of launch, which will follow a couple of weeks after the 19th. This would coincide with previous gossip calling for a release at Best Buy on June 7th. Do you have any predictions?
