AMD launches new Opteron processors

AMD announced today new Opterons models 148, 248 and 848. These new models run at 2.2GHz, matching performance from its desktop sibling, the Athlon 64 FX-51. Our friends at TR have a detailed report on the new CPUs.

On a related note, Sun said today that it will introduce two- and four-processor Sun Fire servers that will be powered by Opteron CPUs.
