Benchmarks: F.E.A.R, Prey

At 1600x1200 even the 8800 GTS (320MB) graphics card had a hard time delivering playable performance in F.E.A.R. (no pun intended). The higher-end card still managed a respectable 48fps, trailing behind was the 7900 GS at 34fps, with the 8600 GTS even further down the list showing a poor performance at 27fps, making it just 5 frames per second faster than the old 7600 GT.

Prey is another game that gives mid-range graphics cards a pretty hard time. Results are no different than previous tests where the 8600 GTS shows only a decent performance.

At 1600x1200 the 8600 GT is again the slowest graphics card, falling just 1fps behind the 7600 GT. The 8600 GTS managed 54.0fps, making it 26% slower than the 7900 GS. The 8800 GTS (320MB) was again more than twice as fast as the 8600 GTS, rendering an average of 112.2fps.
