Gaming Performance

This is a kind of test we will have to look into more in the future. Out of interest I ran this same test with two Barracuda 500GB drives in RAID0, and while the results are not included here, they were interesting to see for drawing conclusions.

As we had suspected, the performance gains offered by RAID0 in games can be quite limited. It appears that in the three games tested above, RAID0 can shave 1-2 seconds off the load time. This is about the same difference we saw between these three hard drives in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Battlefield 2 testing. Really, when it comes to gaming any of these three hard drives will see you into a level as quick as possible. Therefore capacity wins out over performance in this scenario.
