No floppy drive, remove it from My Computer?

How do I remove the Floppy Drive icon from My Computer, I don't have one installed, I haven't ever had one installed on this motherboard (or Windows installation), yet it still always shows up. How do I get that to go away, it's really annoying. I'd like to be able to assign the drive letter A: to another drive (without assigning a different letter to the FDD, I just want to get rid of that completely.)

I thought I'd ask before I went messing with BIOS settings and whatnot.

Right click on my computer and select properties. In the hardware tab select 'Device Manager'. In the device manager there should be an expanadle menu labled 'Floppy disk controllers', expand this and you should see something like 'Standard floppy disk controller' right click on this and click disable.

See attatched image.

The floppy drive should now be removed from My Computer and the A: drive letter now availabe to assign to another drive.

Figured it out about 2 minutes after posting, didn't want to double post though. Thank you for the help. Now My Computer is clean and pretty!

Haha fair enough. Yeah shouldn't double post, but you can edit your posts. You could of edited post to say that you have solved the issue, just so you know for next time.

Just FYI, I disable mine in the bios, pretty simple. On the main page it'll list 1.44" drive etc and you just change it to disabled. =]

I considered going into the BIOS, but I didn't want to turn off my computer to pull it up, because I was doing something. I'll probably do that so it'll carry over between installations of the OS.
