Question: AMD/ATI vs Intel/Nvidia

Hello Im Brazilian and I would like to know which of the two configurations is better, both have the same price:

AMD/ATI
proc amd atlhon x2 5600 2.9ghz
mb asus m2n-x
memoria ddr2 2gb kingston 800mhz hyperx especial edition
vga pci express 2.0 HD 3870 512mb gddr4 775mhz
fonte real satelite 400w
gabinete
hd sata 320gb samsung

INTEL/NVIDIA
proc intel core 2 duo E7400 2.8ghz
mb intel dg31pr
memoria ddr2 2gb kingston 800mhz (normal)
vga pci express 2.0 GeForce 9600GT 512mb 650mhz
fonte real seventeam 450w
gabinete
hd sata 500gb samsung

already thanks :)

D:, tough decision, they are both very similar.

The Intel build has the advantage processor wise, the E7400 is a superior processor, but that won't particularly affect gaming though, but the E7400 will also overclock better.
The hard drive, is a definite win for the Intel, pretty straight forward.
I would say the AMD has a better motherboard.
Now the real contest, the 9600gt and 3870 is a close match. The 3870 should edge out the 9600gt, especially with the overclock.
Personally, I would go with the Intel just because I like the E7400 better, and I use my CPU a lot, otherwise it is a very close choice.

I'd go for the Intel/Nvidia. You can compare different CPU's at Tom's Hardware. I couldn't find the E7400, but the E7200 outscored the 5600 quite a bit in most of the benchmarks. The extra HDD space of the Intel/Nvidia system may also come in handy, as HDDs tend to fill up too fast anyway.

Just to clarify, games rely a lot more on the graphics card than the processor. Both processors are sufficient, so the processor will not hold you back either way.

The Intel/NVIDIA setup is better. Faster CPU, better PSU and better upgrade path for the CPU as well, compared to the AMD build.

Gaming performance should be about the same for both, but when you turn on AA, the system with the ATI card will take a major hit in performance due to the broken AA implementation on the GPU.
