This week marks an important milestone for Mozilla, who is celebrating five years since the initial release of Firefox. Version 1.0 made its debut on November 9th, 2004, seeking to replace the Mozilla browser with a lighter, quicker alternative. It soon became clear that Firefox wouldn't be up against just Mozilla's own software, but also a direct competitor of Internet Explorer -- and for the first time since Microsoft ousted Netscape Navigator, a third party browser proved to be a serious contender on the desktop space. Remarkable to think it has only been five years, yet the growth and performance of these tools are so powerful, and working so well.
We all bow our heads to those guys on the team... many of whom never receive any compensation.

Props to Mozilla for giving us some options other than the big gorilla IE. For some reason, I thought they'd been around a lot longer than 5 years...

If Mozilla didn't appear we would still be using IE6 now. GG Mozilla and Happy Birthday!!!!!
Just like TomSEA i also was under the impression that it was older, but i'm sure that it will still be here in another 5 year (version 10 on Win8 maybe?)
