Can't access internet when firewall is enabled

hi,
i'm using a bit defender internet security 2009 anti virus software.
when da firewall is enabled i can't access internet.it gives an error saying server not found.
i'm using an ADSL connection and a modem.
so when ever i access internet i disable the firewall and access.
is this ok?
why does this happen?
and what can i do to fix it?

i would be very kind if anyone out there can help me in solving the problem.

Uninstall it fully
Restart
Re-install it

That's the easiest way to default all settings

Also, disabling the 3rd party firewall may not be bad if Windows firewall is on

i did the same thing.but it didn't work.

It states to also use the BitDefender Uninstall Tool

After Restart, when you re-install BitDefender, it should prompt you and learn and allow your Internet connections

Any further issues you may have malware on your system. Which begs the question, why did you choose BitDefender Internet Security 2009 ? Its not one of the big players in my view.
