2048mb memory problem

I just upgraded my memory from 768mb to 2048mb and my computer performance seems to be worse than it was. Any advice?

2.8ghz intel celeron
fx5500 oc 256mb

What is the Motherboard and what brand and speed is the memory?

It is an emachines MB w/ 845gv chipset and pny pc3200 memory.
