3DMax Vs Maya

Well i'm new in this, i'm learning about 3d gaming and modeling too, so i get a copy of an old version of maya, and after a hard work to learn it i get a newer version, and it's amazing all the features it has, a lot of detail in the image, and this new version has a lot of effects with it and quiet a lot power to improve the graphs, but a friend is studying something involving 3d graphics and show me 3dsmax and it's really nice, easy to handle and maybe it's not as powerful as maya in certain cases (my personal opinion ) but have another features that can help in 3d gaming that maya can't, well it's just an opinion, sometimes you must know when to sacrifice graphics to have speed and vise versa.
