Still can't search using google or yahoo. I get the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error. The cursor keeps moving when I'm typing so the words get jumbled up. Sometimes the letter keys don't work so you have to push them twice. It took me a long time to type this correctly. Hopefully the log files are attached.

Welcome to TechSpot, Jules. I'll helkp you sort through the malware. You have several different malware infections. You host files have also been hijacked.
Please download ComboFix HERE:
Notes:
When you have finished, rescan with HijackThis and paste that new log in your next reply.

Please download ComboFix HERE:
- With ComboFix, at the download window, please rename it to Combo-Fix(.exe) before downloading it.
- Please disable all security programs, such as antiviruses, antispywares, and firewalls. Also disable your internet connection.
- Run Combo-Fix.exe and follow the prompts.
(Understand that things like your system clock changing and your desktop disappearing might happen. Do not worry, because all will be restored later.) - Wait for the scan to be completed.
- If it requires a reboot, please do it.
Notes:
1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you -- please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.
When you have finished, rescan with HijackThis and paste that new log in your next reply.

Do a right click> delete on the Combo-Fix(.exe) on the desktop.
Rescan with Combofix. Include report in nexr reply.
Rescan with HijackThis. Include log in next reply.

The only log that needs to be pasted in the reply is the HijackThis log.

Thanks for the help so far, it seems to be working. I originally had the antivirus plus or pro or something virus. I used smitfraudfix to get rid of the virus and tried using malwarebytes. I got fed up trying to fix it and bought a new PC. I just recently decided to have another go at fixing it when I came across your 8 step plan.
The cursor is still jumping about the screen when I type but I can now search on google and yahoo so at least I'm getting somewhere.

This is most likely what got you into trouble.
Did you restore the computer back to the Last Good Configuration? The entry above is from the Combofix report. It shows new MBR created, old one 'deregistered.
P2P or 'file sharing: P2P Warning:
I notice that you have a P2P program on the system:
LimeWire
Note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. I suggest that you uninstall c:\\Program Files\\LimeWire\\LimeWire.exe for the following reasons:
- As long as you are using file sharing networks and programs which are from sources that are not documented, you cannot verity that a download is legitimate.
- Malware writers use these program to include malicious content.
- Fie sharing is usually unmonitored and there is a danger that your private files might be accessed.
- The 'sharing' also includes malware that the shared system has on it.
- Files that are illegal can be spread through file sharing.

Please run this online scan:
Open
Kaspersky Online Scanner in Internet Explorer
Note: If you are using Windows Vista, open your browser by right-clicking on its icon and select 'Run as administrator' to perform this scan.
- Click Accept and the web scanner will begin to load
- If a yellow warning bar appears at the top of the browser, click it and choose Install ActiveX Control
- You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, click Install
- If you are prompted about another ActiveX control called Kaspersky Online Scanner GUI part then allow it to be installed also.
- The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
- Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT and then Scan Settings
- In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
[o] Scan using the following Anti-Virus database> Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
[o] Scan Options: Scan Archives> Scan Mail Bases - Click OK
- Now under select a target to scan:
[o] Select My Computer - The program will start to scan your system.
- Once the scan is complete, click on the Save as Text button and save the file to your desktop

Neither one of the Combofix reports shows any deletions. When it is run again, the previous log has to be deleted from the desktop. When you first ran Combofix, did you accept when asked if you wanted to create a recovery console?
Please find the previous Combofix report on your desktop and do a right click> delete on each.
Then run Combofix again, followed by a new HijckThis scan.
As before, attach Combofix report and paste HJT log.
Are you still having the same problem with the system? I need to get good scans in order to determine if malware is the problem. I don't know what's making the mouse jump.

I made sure I deleted the previous versions of the combofix log files and reran it as well as hijack this. I don't seem to be having any problems web browsing and so far the mouse hasn't been jumping while I'm typing. Previously the cursor would jump to the middle of the sentence and since I type with one finger and have to look at the keys when I'm typing, the sentences would be all muddled up. Also some of the keys wouldn't work the first time you hit them. The cursor actually jumped just as I was finishing that last sentence. That's the first time it has done it tonight. That's a lot better than it was but its still not fixed. Here are the log file and report file.

Okay- so sorry about the delay. I haven't felt very well for last few days- one of those 'bugs' that goes around this time of year.
Things to check:
If the original problems have been resolved, you can remove the cleaning tools:
Uninstall ComboFix.exe And all Backups of the files it deleted
Remove all of the tools we used and the files and folders they created
If you are prompted to Reboot during the cleanup, select Yes.
You should now set a new Restore Point to prevent infection from any previous Restore Points. The easiest and safest way to do this is:

[1] I don't see a PDF Reader. You should have one in case to call up something in the PDF format:- Visit this site[Adobe Readeroften and make sure you have the most current update. Uninstall any earlier updates as they are vulnerabilities. Current is v6u17
OR - Check for free FoxitIt PDF Reader
Does same as Adobe Reader without the bloat. Watch for any Toolbars pre-checked on downlaod site.
[2]Keep current in Java updates: v6 u17: - Check this site often.Java Updates Stay current as most updates are for security. Uninstall any earlier versions in Add/Remove Programs.

- Double click OTCleanIt.exe.

- Spywareblaster:
- SpywareBlaster protects against bad ActiveX. It places kill bits to stop bad Active X controls from being installed. Remember to update it regularly.
- IE/Spyad
- This places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
- MVPS Hosts files This replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer.
- Google Toolbar Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.
