a virus in my master boot record

  1. i did some research and found that the cause of so many system failures may be a virus in my computers master boot record. what can i do to determine if there is one and how do i get rid of one? id rather scan where ever the boot record is rather than the entire computer...

if this helps, the failure/error was kernel_stack_inpage_error

I don't know, you didn't give enough details. But there hasn't been any widespread boot sector viruses in about a decade, and the boot sectors are always scanned during any AV scan. Do a trendmicro housecall scan if you want.
