ABIT SG-72 only occational POST/Boot

Hi All,

New on this site, never posted a thread before, but found a lot of help in previous threads.

Have an ABIT SG-72, Intel P4 3 GHz IMb 800 FSB, 512 Mb DIMM DDR 400, 160 Gb Seagate Baracuda SATA, DVD, Floppy, 400W PWS.

Worked fine for 18 months with occational heat problems (restarts) due to dust into case and blocking heatsink.

Now only POSTs 1 out of 10 start attempts (when POSTing also boots). Usually better result after manipulating on MB (push on memory, re-insert CPU, or other "check"). After 10s to 2 minutes it hangs (freeze screen, no reaction) consistently.

When it does not POST, it still spins HDD, but no beep.

On rare occations, it can run stable for a while, and I have been able to run MEMtest and other performace tests witout reporting an error.

Tried moving Membank, Clearing CMOS, starting w/o display, HDD etc. but no consistent improvement.

Does this point in the direction of a faulty MB, Mem or CPU?

Thanks
